TikTok ads for online stores: turning views into orders

TikTok is no longer just an entertainment app; it has become one of the most important sources of sales for stores in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. But lots of views do not mean lots of orders. The difference between a campaign that collects views and one that sells is the content, the tracking, and how you judge the results. That is what we cover here.

Make TikTok content, not an ad

People open TikTok to watch content, not ads. The ad that works looks like the other videos: a person talking straight to camera, a fast pace, and a short story that ends with the product. A polished ad that opens with a big logo usually gets skipped.

  • An opening line that grabs attention in two seconds
  • Show the problem, then the product as the answer
  • A real experience or a before-and-after
  • A clear call to buy at the end

We test several angles at the same time, because ads wear out fast on TikTok and the account needs fresh content all the time. That is why success on this platform depends on ad creative more than anywhere else.

Spark Ads and creators

Spark Ads let you advertise with an existing post from your account or a creator's account, so the ad appears as a normal post with its comments and likes. That builds trust, especially when the creator is known to the target audience.

We pick creators by audience and the way they speak, not by follower count alone. A small creator close to your audience can sell more than a celebrity far from it.

TikTok Pixel and events

TikTok needs clear data to know who buys. We connect the TikTok Pixel to the store, send events from the server where possible, and check that product views, add-to-cart and purchases arrive with the right values.

In Egypt we add one important step: we don't judge a campaign by the order count in TikTok alone, but by how many orders were confirmed and delivered. We explain why in our e-commerce marketing in Egypt guide.

Two stories from Egypt and Saudi Arabia

With a healthy food brand in Egypt, growth had stalled at 436K EGP a month with no real use of TikTok. We launched direct-response campaigns on Meta and started on TikTok, and sales passed 2M EGP in the first two months.

In Saudi Arabia we launched Givago perfume with campaigns on TikTok and Snapchat, reaching 413K SAR in sales in the first 30 days at a 5.6x return. To learn more about Snapchat, read our Snapchat ads guide.

When do we raise the budget?

We raise spend when an ad holds a steady return for several days, not after one good day. And we raise it gradually, because doubling the budget overnight confuses the algorithm and pushes up cost. We stop an ad when the cost per order rises above the level that keeps you profitable.

We agree that level with you at the start, based on product price and margin, as part of paid ads management. And social media management helps build an active TikTok account that supports the ads with regular content.

Frequently asked questions

It works for most products that can be shown in a short video, such as personal care, beauty, food, fashion and home goods. Very specialist products may need Google more.

It is not required, but an active account builds trust and lets you use Spark Ads with your own posts.

It depends on the budget, but TikTok needs a steady flow of new content, so we plan the number of ads with the content plan from the start.
